Daniel Boone

HE DIDN'T WEAR COONSKIN HATS...

"I have never been lost but I admit to having been confused for a few weeks".
-Daniel Boone

While conducting research on Ashe County, NC for my upcoming book on North Carolina Flyfishing, I was reading about Daniel Boone. What an interesting and witty guy.
He was born in a log cabin near Reading Pennsylvania and lived near here in the Yadkin Valley and near the South Fork of the New River in the late 1700s.

It's Greek to Me

This is a scene from one of the Greek Islands I explored back in '89. The Gallery in Reidsville is going to showcase photography with a Greek and Turkish theme this January, so I'm going through my old photos...

Here is some of the wild stuff that is on exhibit at the Gallery this month.

Your Comment Here...

Ahh, this photo is right up there with the place called "Stuff Stop"we saw in Alligator Alley in Florida.

Copperhead Trail

The morning trail was shady, looking down I found this little guy just lying there in my path...so i got a stick and nudged him off the trail and of course he snapped at me and we stuck our tongues out at each other and I was on my way...and then I found a horseshoe so it was my lucky day except for I don't believe in luck...only grace.

Ft. Bragg Blackhawk last week at Sedgefield

The chopper was rehearsing for a dramatic appearance last week to kick off the golf championship in Greensboro at Sedgefield C.C. The Wyndham, specifically "AIG", invited soldiers from Fort Bragg out to the golf tournament... Bad weather canceled the chopper, but some of us enjoyed watching the practice runs anyhow.

Sedgefield Country Club as the MetLife Blimp Flies

Downtown Greensboro Postcard

"Snoopy 2" the MetLife blimp took me for a ride...

The King of Racing Meets the King of Swing

Local resident and national icon Richard Petty appeared with Wake Forest Alum and golfing legend Arnold Palmer to "Tee Off" the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro recently. Petty graciously deferred the opening remarks to Palmer while King Richard was content to (in his words) "draft".

Vijay Singh came to Sedgefield last week...

He's one of the top 5 golfers in the world and it was fun to watch him at the Wyndham although he was not -ugh....up to par.

Elizabeth and her cousin, Captain Rob get into some "red-hot" angling along the mangroves on the georgeous Gulf Coast of Florida.
